The event welcomed around 50 participants from Europe, Asia, and the Americas. It counted with 22 communications and 2 poster sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among the standout moments were the keynote speeches:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Sylvia Xueni Pan, a professor at the University of London and a virtual reality specialist, presented an engaging talk on \u201cVirtual Social Interaction\u201d, examining how social interaction can be transformed through virtual environments.<\/li><li>Professor Ant\u00f3nio Augusto Sousa and Dr. Jo\u00e3o Cunha revisited the history of the Graphics and Geometric Computing Group (GPCG) in their keynote \u201cOrigin and Path of GPCG\u201d, highlighting the motivations, evolution, and achievements of the group over more than 35 years.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Professor Jos\u00e9 Luis Encarna\u00e7\u00e3o was also presented at the conference. The Professor Jos\u00e9 Lu\u00eds Encarna\u00e7\u00e3o Award was established in 2010 to honor the best scientific work in computer graphics developed by a student. This year\u2019s award went to Diogo Almeida for his paper \u201cSIT6: Indirect touch-based object manipulation for DeskVR\u201d, supervised by Rui Rodrigues and Daniel Mendes, researchers at INESC TEC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ICGI 2024 took place at the University of Tr\u00e1s-os-Montes e Alto Douro, UTAD.
