Professor Joaquim Jorge Elected 2027 IEEE Computer Society President
It is with great honor that the GPCG congratulates Professor Joaquim Jorge, a member of the GPCG Governing Bodies, on his election as President of the IEEE Computer Society for 2027.
Professor Joaquim Jorge is a Full Professor at Instituto Superior Técnico, the School of Engineering at the University of Lisbon, where he also holds the UNESCO Chair in Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality. He teaches courses in computer graphics, virtual reality, and human-computer interaction, and has successfully supervised or co-supervised 17 doctoral theses and over 70 Master’s dissertations in Computer Science. He also serves as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Computers & Graphics and is the co-author of more than 400 peer-reviewed publications, including 164 international conference papers, four books, and 87 journal articles. He has also contributed to the international program committees of over 220 conferences.
